Pakistan announces to reopen educational institutions in phases
Pakistan on Monday decided to reopen educational institutions in the country in phases.
After meeting with the provincial education ministers in Islamabad, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that in the first phase, classes nine to 12 would be allowed to resume from January 18.
“In the next phase, classes from one to eight would resume on January 25 while the universities would resume from February 1,” he added.
Mahmood also said that the online classes will resume from January 11.
The minister also said that the board exams will be held in May and June because the student have not completed their coursework due to the closure of schools for the past several months.
The education institutions were closed in March and then reopened in September only to be shut down again in November due to the constant rise in coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has cautioned that more precautions were needed to control the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
