Pakistan confident for the removal of visa restrictions from UAE
The government is hopeful for the removal of visa restrictions for its citizens from the United Arab Emirates, sources told Islamabad Observer on Sunday.
Last month, the UAE temporarily stopped issuing new visas to Pakistani as well as the citizens of 11 other Muslim majority countries.
According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the temporary nature of the recent restrictions imposed on the issuance of visas due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday said that the decision to suspend the issuance of visas to Pakistani citizens is ‘temporary’.
The statement was issued after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi paid a two-day official visit to the UAE.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had raised the issues pertaining to visa restrictions on Pakistani nationals during his meetings with the Emirati leadership.
"Qureshi was assured that the visa restrictions were temporary in nature and were imposed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic," the official added.
